[Stress-related depression in outpatient psychiatric practice]

The clinical-psychological examination of 78 patients with stress-related depression has been performed. The amount of stress factors preceding the onset of depression and their content in the aspect of subjective significance has revealed statistically significant differences between anxious, melancholic-anxious and melancholic depression. The evaluation of premorbid features given from the position of accentuation of affective type (cycloid, depressive or hyperthymic variants) has shown that the frequencies of these variants are 7.7%; 42.7% and 52.8%, respectively. This evaluation has been supplemented by ergocity characteristics (object or social) of the premorbid personality as one of temperamental traits. Statistically significant differences between premorbid ergocity (harmonic, disharmonic) and contents of stress factor preceding the development of depression have been observed.
