Association between left ventricular mass and telomere length in a population study

Longer telomere length (TL) in leukocytes is linked to increased left ventricular (LV) mass in the general population. This association is particularly pronounced in normotensive individuals, suggesting a role for TL in cardiac structure.

Purpose of the Study:

- Associations were also found with LV wall thicknesses but not LV internal diameter in normotensive individuals.

- Longer mean leukocyte telomere length is associated with increased left ventricular mass.
- This relationship is particularly evident in normotensive individuals.
