Abstract:
This article outlines the disparities that exist in educational opportunities for ethnic minorities in both higher education and nursing programs. Barriers exist for ethnic minorities that are directly related to students' circumstances and factors related to faculty and universities. There are multiple strategies that can be implemented by faculty and universities to ameliorate inequities in education, but they are most meaningful when institutions use self-reflection and plan for long-term sustainable changes.
