Abstract

Insights

A complication with the Merci embolectomy device causing vessel entrapment was reported. A novel technique safely retrieved the device, restoring blood flow and enabling successful clot extraction.

Area of Science:

  • Neurointerventional radiology
  • Cerebrovascular disease management

Background:

  • The Merci embolectomy device can cause critical flow limitation due to vasospasm and anatomical changes.
  • Device entrapment in intracranial vasculature poses a challenge for safe removal.
