Background:

Acute care settings present challenges for patient mobilization.
Nurses' roles are crucial in promoting functional and physical activities.
Existing interventions may not adequately address nurses' knowledge and behaviors.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the feasibility of a function-focused care intervention in acute care.
To evaluate the intervention's impact on nurses' knowledge, beliefs, and behaviors.
To explore nurses' engagement with patients in functional and physical activities.

Main Methods:

A 6-month function-focused care intervention was implemented.
23 nurses participated in the study.
Pre- and postintervention testing was conducted to measure outcomes.

Main Results:

The intervention demonstrated feasibility in the acute care setting.
A significant improvement in nurses' self-efficacy expectations was observed.
No significant changes were found in nurses' knowledge, beliefs, or other behaviors.

Conclusions:

Function-focused care intervention shows promise for feasibility and enhancing nurse self-efficacy.
Further research is needed to improve intervention components impacting knowledge and behavior.
Optimizing patient engagement in functional activities requires refined strategies.
