Abstract:
A 13-year-old girl presented with a one-day history of severe and persistent headache, high fever, vomiting and nuchal rigidity. Previous history of cranial traumatism when she was six and hypoacusis since she was an infant. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) culture revealed Haemophilus influenzae non typable. Clinical course was positive. Investigation of immunologic cause was negative. Imaging investigation (cranial computed tomography scan and magnetic resonance imaging) revealed traumatic frontal cranial deformity and meningocele. Non typable Haemophilus infuenzae is a rare cause of meningitis, unless predisposing factor is present.
