Sonographic findings of splenic metastases
1Department of Internal Medicine, Philipps-University, Marburg.
Abstract:
Intrasplenic metastases are an uncommon manifestation of malignant disease. Between 1980 and 1990, focal splenic lesions were diagnosed through sonography in 178 patients at our hospital. In 13 of these cases (7.3%), the final diagnosis was intrasplenic metastasis. A variety of echo patterns was observed, with hypoechoic (n = 11) lesions being typical. The clinical significance of these findings is discussed.
