Abstract:
No increase in chromosome aberrations was detected in cultured Chinese hamster ovary cells exposed to cytotoxic concentrations of three detergents. The absence of an effect in these studies appears to be inconsistent with the view that the clastogenic effect of some surface-active compounds may be mediated through the liberation of lysosomal enzymes.
