Summary

A new patient education program based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) was developed and pilot-tested. The program was found to be feasible and acceptable for stroke patients, with a final version now ready for further evaluation.

Background:

Stroke rehabilitation requires effective patient education strategies.
Existing programs may not adequately address functional limitations.
The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) provides a framework for understanding health and disability.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop an ICF-based patient education program.
To pilot test the program for acceptability and feasibility.
To create a final, adapted version of the program.

Main Methods:

Program development involved defining functioning areas, enhancing self-efficacy strategies, creating materials, and structuring modules.
A pilot test was conducted with stroke patients.
Acceptability and feasibility were assessed.

Main Results:

The pilot test included eleven stroke patients.
The patient education program was well-accepted by participants.
The program consists of three modules focused on understanding functioning, problem-solving, and review.

Conclusions:
