Chronic cluster headache patients exhibit circadian rhythms, similar to episodic forms. A 10-year study revealed a 24-hour cycle and a significant semi-annual rhythm in attack frequency for this chronic cluster headache variant.
Area of Science:
- Chronobiology
- Neurology
- Headache Medicine
Background:
- Chronic cluster headache affects 10-20% of patients.
- Circadian and circannual rhythms are known in episodic cluster headache.
- Chronobiology in chronic cluster headache remains poorly understood.
