    Summary

This study demonstrates how a hemiconic lens can transform Cerenkov second-harmonic generation blue radiation into a parallel plane wave. Modifications to the lens and laser wavelength tuning correct aberrations for an aberration-free beam.

    Area of Science:

    • Optics
    • Photonics
    • Laser Physics

    Background:

    • Cerenkov second-harmonic generation produces blue radiation in an arc.
    • Converting this arc to a usable parallel plane wave requires advanced optical solutions.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the use of a hemiconic lens for beam shaping.
    • To achieve an aberration-free parallel plane wave from Cerenkov radiation.
    • To correct for chromatic aberration in the generated blue light.

    Main Methods:

    • Optical path analysis using diffraction theory and geometrical ray tracing.
    • Collimation experiments with a hemiconic lens.
    • Modification of the cone apex angle based on waveguide birefringence.
    • Diode laser wavelength tuning with an achromatic cone lens doublet.

    Main Results:

    • A hemiconic lens successfully converts the arc of blue radiation to a parallel plane wave.
    • Adjusting the apex angle corrects for aberrations, yielding an aberration-free wave.
    • Achromatic cone lens doublets and laser tuning effectively correct chromatic aberration.

    Conclusions:

    • Hemiconic lenses are effective for transforming Cerenkov second-harmonic generation radiation.
    • Aberration correction is achievable through precise optical design and laser parameter control.
    • This method provides a viable route to generating high-quality plane waves for optical applications.
