[Hysteroscopy: its value in the pretherapeutic evaluation of endometrial adenocarcinomas]

Hysteroscopy has among its other indications an important role to play in working out a plan of treatment for endometrial adenocarcinoma. Apart from helping with the diagnosis it is efficient in working out the stage of the condition (91% reliable for stages I and II demonstrated in 30 cases). On the anatomopathological level it is important (81% correlated with the diagnosis made on the operation specimen). It is therefore better to carry out hysteroscopy than to read smears blindly. On the other hand it is not possible to work ou how much muscle invasion there is and prognosis is linked to that, yet it contributes well to helping to select the correct treatment and to determine how widespread the tumour is and what grade it is.
