Acetabular component positioning using the transverse acetabular ligament: can you find it and does it help?

Summary

The transverse acetabular ligament (TAL) was not consistently identifiable during total hip arthroplasty (THA). When identified, using the TAL for acetabular component positioning offered no accuracy advantage over the free-hand technique.
