[Clinico-laboratory characteristics of systemic lupus erythematosus in combination with thyroid gland pathology]

A total of 18 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus with a concomitant pathology of the thyroid gland (Hashimoto's goiter, diffuse-toxic goiter, euthyroid goiter) were examined. The analysis of the results revealed some clinical and laboratory features which manifested themselves in affection of the skin, joints, development of skin vasculitis, functional disorders in the thyroid gland as compared to the control group. The data obtained suggest the presence of a pathogenetic relationship between systemic lupus erythematosus and autoimmune thyroid pathology.
