[Scanning electron microscopic study of the reaction of ceramics implant in middle ear]
1First Affiliated Hospital, Jiangxi Medical College, Nanchang.
Abstract:
In this article, the reaction of ceramics implanted in cat's middle ear was observed and compared with autologous cortex bone and Teflon. The three types of graft were implanted in cat's middle ear. Then the cats were killed at one, two and four months after operation. The grafts were taken out and observed under scanning electron microscope. We found that the ceramics were coated by a continuous epithelium. Beneath this there were fibers and capillaries. These results indicated that Al2O3 ceramics are better than Teflon and is a good ossicular prosthesis.
