Summary

CT-guided cervical selective nerve root blocks (CSNRBs) using a dorsal approach are feasible for treating cervical radicular pain. This technique demonstrates sensitivity and specificity in diagnostic and therapeutic applications.

  • Contrast distribution: 15% intraforaminal, 78% extraforaminal, 6% intraspinal.
  • Mean needle angle: 26.6°, mean distance to nerve root: 4.43 mm.
  • 68.4% of diagnostic blocks achieved >50% pain reduction; no major complications.

Conclusions:

  • CT-guided CSNRBs with a dorsal approach are feasible.
  • This technique is both sensitive and specific for cervical radicular pain.
  • The dorsal approach offers a viable alternative for selective nerve root blocks.
