Dabigatran inhibits Staphylococcus aureus coagulase activity

Staphylocoagulase activates prothrombin to clot plasma, identifying Staphylococcus aureus. While dabigatran inhibits this, clinical dabigatran etexilate use should not affect coagulase testing.
