Summary

Surgeons accurately predict the need for postmastectomy radiotherapy, a key factor in offering immediate breast reconstruction. Pre-mastectomy investigations do not improve this decision-making process for breast cancer patients.

    • Advanced pre-mastectomy investigations do not significantly improve the decision-making process.
    • Careful patient selection allows for a high rate of immediate breast reconstruction.
