Ultrasound-guided percutaneous biopsy of the augmented breast using implant displacement: a new technique

The purpose of the technique was to develop a method of performing ultrasound-guided percutaneous biopsy of the augmented breast that would reduce risk of causing implant rupture. Using adhesive tape, we have displaced retropectoral implants away from the lesion to be biopsied. This resulted in greater space between the lesion and the implant and allowed ultrasound-guided biopsy to be accomplished with greater ease and with reduced risk of rupturing the implant.
