Children with postinfectious bronchiolitis obliterans (PIBO) show severe airway obstruction and increased lung volumes. Standard risk factors did not correlate with this pulmonary function impairment in PIBO patients.

- Combined spirometry and plethysmography offer a comprehensive approach for assessing and monitoring functional damage in PIBO.
- Commonly identified risk factors for respiratory diseases do not appear to predict the severity of pulmonary impairment in PIBO.
