Summary

Diagnosing diffuse kidney involvement in lymphoma patients with acute renal failure is crucial. F-18 FDG PET/CT can identify this, leading to rapid recovery with chemotherapy.

Background:

  • Acute renal failure in lymphoma patients necessitates prompt diagnosis of diffuse renal involvement.
  • Identifying renal lymphoma is critical for initiating timely and effective chemotherapy.

Observation:

  • A patient with suspected lymphoma and acute renal failure presented with bilaterally enlarged kidneys.
  • F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (FDG PET/CT) revealed diffuse increased FDG uptake in both kidneys.

Findings:

  • The diffuse renal FDG uptake on F-18 FDG PET/CT indicated significant kidney involvement by lymphoma.
  • Following one cycle of chemotherapy, the patient's renal function normalized.
