Abstract:
The author considers the ten years experience of the Italian Program for Continuing Medical Education.The favorable shift in medical education is due to higher interest in this area and to the rising numbers of people involved in the debate.Today, the challenge is getting the emphasis on the"educational"approach rather than on didactics.The approach to CME should be comprehensive, focusing mainly on the objectives of the educational process. Considering the complexity of medical environment, doctors should: (1) knowing how to cooperate; (2) knowing how to learn; and (3) knowing how to know.
