Summary

Boston type I keratoprosthesis implantation restores useful binocular function in over 90% of patients with unilateral visual impairment and good fellow eye acuity. This surgery significantly improves visual outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate postoperative binocular function in patients receiving Boston type I KPro.
  • To determine the impact of KPro on sensory and motor binocularity.
  • To identify factors influencing binocular function after KPro implantation.

  • Prospective evaluation of 17 patients undergoing Boston type I KPro implantation.
  • Preoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) in the fellow eye was >20/50.
