Teeth

The formation of teeth, also known as odontogenesis, is a complex process that begins in utero, around the sixth week of embryonic development. There are three stages to this process: the bud stage, the cap stage, and the bell stage.

Summary

Estimating age in Egyptian children using dental radiographs is crucial for forensic science and dentistry. Both Willems and Cameriere methods showed high accuracy, with the Willems method being slightly more precise for age estimation in this population.

  • To assess the applicability and accuracy of the Willems and Cameriere methods for age estimation in Egyptian children.

  • Analysis of digital panoramic radiographs from 286 Egyptian children aged 5–16 years.
  • Evaluation of seven left permanent mandibular teeth using Willems and Cameriere methods.

  • Both Willems and Cameriere methods demonstrated a significant correlation between estimated dental age and real age in Egyptian children.
