Summary

Feeding laying hens organic selenium up to 5.1 μg/g increased egg selenium levels without impacting hen health or egg production. This demonstrates a practical method for producing selenium-enriched eggs for consumers.

  • A basal diet containing 0.3 μg Se/g (sodium selenite) was used for comparison.
  • Production metrics (feed consumption, egg production, egg mass) and egg selenium content were measured over 4 weeks.
