Intravenous anesthetics are drugs administered parenterally to induce anesthesia or sedation. Summary

Current oral contraceptive (OCs) use increases perioperative venous thromboembolism (VTE) risk fivefold. Newer desogestrel-containing OCs may pose a slightly greater VTE risk, warranting caution during surgery.
