  • Obesity is common in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), but its role in OSA-related cardiovascular disease is unclear.
  • This study investigates whether OSA independently contributes to abnormal vascular function, separate from obesity.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine if obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), independent of obesity, leads to impaired vascular function.
  • To assess the impact of OSA on endothelial function and arterial stiffness.

Main Methods:

  • A physiology study involving obese subjects without known comorbidities.
  • Vascular function assessed via brachial artery ultrasound (flow-mediated dilation - FMD) and skin microcirculation (laser Doppler flowmetry).
