[Comparative study of coronary artery disease using Fourier analysis in radionuclide ventriculography and coronary
1Handan Steel-works Hospital, Hebei.
Insights
Rest blood-equilibrium radionuclide ventriculography (RVG) phase analysis accurately evaluates coronary artery disease (CAD). This sensitive method correctly diagnosed 11 of 12 CAD patients, aiding in myocardial infarction detection.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Nuclear Medicine
- Diagnostic Imaging
Background:
- Coronary artery disease (CAD) diagnosis relies on invasive and non-invasive methods.
- Radionuclide ventriculography (RVG) is a non-invasive imaging technique.
- Phase analysis of RVG offers potential for improved diagnostic accuracy.
Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of phase analysis in rest blood-equilibrium radionuclide ventriculography (RVG) for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).
- To assess the sensitivity and accuracy of RVG phase analysis in identifying myocardial infarction.
Main Methods:
- Retrospective review of rest blood-equilibrium radionuclide ventriculography (RVG) and coronary arteriography results.
- Application of Fourier analysis to RVG data for phase image generation.
- Correlation of RVG findings with angiographic evidence of CAD and myocardial infarction.
Main Results:
- Fourier analysis of RVG correctly diagnosed 11 out of 12 patients with angiographically proven CAD, achieving 83.33% accuracy.
- Phase images from RVG revealed an "empty" area in 9 patients with myocardial infarction.
- RVG phase analysis demonstrated high sensitivity and accuracy in evaluating CAD patients.
Conclusions:
- Rest blood-equilibrium radionuclide ventriculography (RVG) with phase analysis is a sensitive and accurate method for evaluating patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).
- Phase analysis of RVG aids in the detection of myocardial infarction by identifying characteristic "empty" areas in phase images.
Abstract:
The results of rest blood-equilibrium radionuclide ventriculography (RVG) and of coronary arteriography were reviewed together. In 12 angiographically proved CAD patients, Fourier analysis correctly diagnosed 11, with an accuracy of 83.33% in localization 9 patients with myocardial infarction showed "empty" area in phase images. The phase analysis in RVG was considered a sensitive and accurate method in evaluating patients of CAD.
