[Surgical treatment of tachycardia: experience and prospects]

The paper analyzes current methods of diagnosis, outcomes of surgical management of tachyarrhythmias, and future trends of studies. Clinical experience has been gained with 723 surgeries made in patients with life-threatening arrhythmias, out of them 594 surgeries were performed on open heart, 327 in patients with preexcitation syndrome, 151 for supraventricular, 101 for ventricular tachycardias, and 155 for concurrent abnormalities. A total of ill children were 123. The main results of treating patients are analyzed in the same sequence: preexcitation syndromes, supraventricular and ventricular tachyarrhythmias, multiple arrhythmias, and the latter concurrent with congenital and acquired heart diseases, and coronary heart disease. An emphasis is also laid on pediatric surgical practice. Although there are evident advances in each above areas, a number of serious problems are available, which the world lead clinics are dealing with. Attention is paid to the application of laser and development of surgical management techniques used in children, radical operations for atrial fibrillation and flutter, organ-preserving surgeries on sinus and atrioventricular nodes while these are considered to be promising.
