Specific age-related immune changes may influence asthma severity and pathogenesis in elderly individuals.

Purpose of the Study:

To review how aging affects innate and adaptive immune responses relevant to asthma in older adults.
To explore the role of immunosenescence in the development and exacerbation of asthma in the elderly population.

Main Methods:

Literature review of studies on immunosenescence and asthma.
Analysis of age-related changes in innate immune cells (neutrophils, eosinophils, mast cells) and their function.
Examination of adaptive immune alterations, including antigen presentation and antibody responses.
Review of age-associated modifications in cytokine profiles, particularly T(H)2 responses.
