Endothelial dysfunction in young patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction

Young patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) exhibit severe endothelial dysfunction, indicated by impaired flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD). This dysfunction, independent of traditional risk factors, is significantly associated with STEMI in this age group.

- Impaired FMD, along with age, emerged as the sole significant predictor of STEMI in this young cohort, independent of traditional cardiovascular risk factors.
- Endothelial dysfunction is a critical factor in the development of AMI among younger individuals.
