Summary

GreenLight HPS™ laser PVP effectively treats benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms without negatively impacting erectile function. Most patients maintained or improved sexual health after the procedure.

Main Results:

  • 72 patients completed 52-week follow-up; median age 69, median prostate volume 62 mL.
  • Significant improvement in LUTS (AUASS) observed.
  • Sexual Health Inventory for Men (SHIM) showed minimal detrimental effect on erectile function; 85.5% had no significant change.
  • 11.3% experienced erectile function deterioration, while 19.3% saw improvement at 52 weeks.
  • 30% incidence of new-onset retrograde ejaculation.

Conclusions:

  • GreenLight HPS™ laser PVP does not appear to have a detrimental effect on erectile function.
  • The procedure effectively manages LUTS secondary to BPH.
  • Further research may explore long-term sexual function outcomes and patient satisfaction.
