Preoperative serum CA-125 levels in early stage ovarian cancer

Abstract:
Preoperative serum CA 125 levels were elevated in only 23% (9/39) of patients with FIGO Stage I invasive ovarian epithelial carcinoma whereas 88% of patients with Stages II-IV disease had elevated CA 125 levels preoperatively. No preoperative serum CA 125 levels in any patient with Stage I disease exceeded 300 U/ml.
