Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate associations between FPI-6 composite scores and dynamic plantar pressure measurements.
  • To describe FPI-6 subscale and composite score distributions in a sample of active adults.

  • A controlled laboratory study involving 1000 active adults (mean age 30.6 years).
  • Static foot posture assessed using the FPI-6.
  • Dynamic plantar pressure measured using a capacitance-based pressure platform.
  • Correlation and hierarchical stepwise regression analyses were employed.

  • The average FPI-6 score was 3.4, with pronated foot classifications being 2.4 times more likely than supinated.
  • A 5-variable model explained 32% (R² = 0.32) of the variance in FPI-6 scores based on dynamic plantar pressure data.

Conclusions:

  • The findings suggest potential need for adjusted FPI-6 cutoff values for screening supinated feet due to underrepresentation in the study sample.
