Area of Science:

  • Oncology
  • Surgical Pathology

Background:

  • Middle-ear angiosarcoma is a rare and aggressive malignant neoplasm.
  • Early diagnosis is critical for effective surgical management and improved patient outcomes.

Observation:

  • A 12-year-old girl presented with a retroauricular mass and external auditory canal tumor.
  • CT imaging revealed a mastoid-region tumor with bone erosion.
  • Surgical resection was performed via a retroauricular approach.

Findings:

  • Postoperative histopathology confirmed angiosarcoma.
  • The patient showed no signs of local recurrence at 12 months follow-up.

Implications:

  • Late diagnosis is common due to non-specific early symptoms.
