A new penalized maximum likelihood (PML) reconstruction method significantly improves the detection of microcalcifications (MCs) in digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) compared to the standard Feldkamp FBP algorithm. This advancement enhances diagnostic accuracy in breast cancer screening.
