Introduction:
Different exercise modes result in different heart rate recovery (HRR) patterns which could be related to the greater vagal reactivation following arm compared to leg-ergometry.
Methods:
Heart rate recovery was calculated following maximal arm and leg-ergometry.
Results:
HRR-1 following maximal arm-ergometry was significantly higher than HRR-1 post maximal and sub-maximal leg-ergometry.
Conclusion:
This may be of clinical significance to individuals relying on their upper body for locomotion.
