Are lies more wrong than errors? Accuracy judgments of inaccurate statements

People perceive lies and inaccurate quantity estimates differently. Overstatements and self-favorable claims are seen as more inaccurate than understatements and pessimistic ones, with lies judged more harshly than mere errors.
