Administering L-thyroxine to euthyroid dogs suppressed thyroid and pituitary function. Both thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) responses to thyrotropin (TSH) and thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) were significantly reduced during treatment.
