Visual evoked potential (VEP) tests reveal prolonged latencies and reduced amplitudes in migraine patients, indicating visual pathway dysfunction. These findings support VEP as a reliable diagnostic tool for migraine.

  • Migraine patients exhibited significantly longer N75 and P100 latencies and lower amplitudes compared to controls.
  • N145 latency correlated with disease duration, and P100 latency was longer in patients with aura.

Conclusions:

  • VEP latency and amplitude measurements are valuable and reliable for diagnosing migraine.
  • The observed VEP alterations suggest persistent precortical visual processing dysfunction relevant to migraine pathogenesis.
