Abstract:
Pulmonary embolism is a common clinical problem estimated to cause 200,000 deaths per year in the United State. There is increasing interest in early diagnosis and prompt aggressive therapy. A case is reported of a patient with massive pulmonary embolism treated with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator. Ventilation/perfusion imaging was used both to make an early diagnosis as well as to evaluate the efficacy of therapy.
