Pulmonary torsion is a rare risk after lung resection. A new method using absorptive sheets and fibrin glue offers effective, complication-free prophylactic fixation for residual lobes.

  • To introduce and evaluate a novel prophylactic technique for preventing pulmonary torsion after lung resection.
  • To describe the application of an absorptive sheet and fibrin glue for securing residual lung lobes.

  • A retrospective review of 6 patients who underwent prophylactic fixation for lung torsion between January 2009 and March 2010.
  • The technique involved using an absorptive sheet and fibrin glue to repair and stabilize the residual lobe.
