Abstract:
After study of the literature and other available information, the American Cancer Society has found no evidence that "psychic surgery" results in objective benefit in the treatment of any medical condition. Lacking such evidence, the American Cancer Society strongly urges individuals who are ill not to seek treatment by psychic surgery. The following is a review and summary of material on "psychic surgery" in the American Cancer Society files as of May 31, 1989. Reference to that material by the Society does not imply agreement with its contents.
