Summary

Mammalian oocyte maturation, arrested at the germinal vesicle (GV) stage, can be spontaneously initiated in vitro. Factors like follicular atresia and gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa) improve germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD) rates in cynomolgus monkey oocytes.
