Summary

Youth with cerebral palsy (CP) are aware of assistive technologies (AT) but less so about operating system accessibility options. Greater clinician knowledge is needed to ensure all youth with CP benefit from these computer access tools.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the awareness of computer access technologies, including AT and accessibility options, among youth with CP.
  • To identify the specific computer access methods chosen by youth with CP based on their functional abilities (Manual Ability Classification Scale - MACS).

Main Methods:

  • A survey-based study was conducted.
  • Participants included 60 youth aged 13-25 years with CP across MACS levels I-V.
  • Data were collected via questionnaires at two tertiary rehabilitation centers in New Zealand and Canada.
