Area of Science:

  • Neurosurgery
  • Radiology
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Expansile lesions of the skull present diagnostic challenges.
  • Distinguishing benign from malignant bone lesions is critical for patient management.

Observation:

  • A 45-year-old male presented with an expansile lesion of the parietal bones.
  • Advanced imaging, including CT, MRI, and digital subtraction angiography, was performed.

Findings:

  • Radiological imaging findings were highly suggestive of a malignant neoplasm.
  • Histopathological examination ultimately revealed a chronic diploic hematoma, a benign condition.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the importance of integrating imaging findings with histopathology for accurate diagnosis.
