Cis-4-methylsphingosine (cis-4M-Sph), a sphingosine analogue, modulates Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) receptors via its metabolite cis-4M-S1P. This leads to S1P receptor internalization and desensitization, offering insights for developing new S1P receptor modulating prodrugs.
