Summary

This study presents a novel microscope system for imaging Blu-ray discs through their protective layer. The system minimizes cover layer aberrations using a truncated solid immersion lens (SIL) for enhanced subsurface imaging.

Background:

Blu-ray discs possess protective layers that hinder direct subsurface imaging.
Conventional microscopy techniques often require sample preparation, such as cover layer removal.
Aberrations introduced by protective layers degrade image quality and resolution.

To develop a microscope system capable of imaging Blu-ray discs without removing the protective cover.
To minimize optical aberrations caused by the cover layer.
To achieve high-resolution subsurface imaging of Blu-ray disc structures.

Utilizing a solid immersion lens (SIL) system.
Employing a truncated SIL design to mitigate cover layer-induced aberrations.
Implementing rigorous coupled wave theory, partial coherence, and vector diffraction for subsurface imaging simulation.
