Summary

Isolated pisiform dislocation, a rare wrist injury, can be effectively treated with pisiform resection. This surgical approach allows for full wrist range of motion and pain relief in patients.

Observation:

  • A case of isolated pisiform dislocation in a 20-year-old male following direct wrist trauma is presented.
  • Initial diagnosis was delayed, and closed reduction attempts were unsuccessful.

Findings:

  • The patient underwent successful surgical resection of the pisiform bone.
  • At 12-month follow-up, the patient achieved full wrist range of motion.
  • No residual pain was reported post-surgery.

Implications:

  • Pisiform resection is a viable treatment option for irreducible isolated pisiform dislocations.
