Abstract:
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [HgBr(2)(C(5)H(4)N(2)O(2))(2)]·2H(2)O, contains one half-mol-ecule and one water mol-ecule. The Hg(II) ion, lying on a twofold rotation axis, is four-coordinated by two N atoms of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid ligands and two bromide ions, forming a highly distorted tetrahedral geometry. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules.
